Accommodation suppliers urged to stop demanding deposit from NSFAS funded university students



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has urged landlords never to demand a deposit or top-up payment from NSFAS-funded students.

This arrives soon after NSFAS gained reports about some accommodation companies who demand NSFAS-funded students to pay for a deposit or top-up payment so that you can get access to the accredited private accommodation.

"NSFAS reminds accommodation vendors of the compulsory conditions, as provided by the Standardised Fixed-Term Lease Agreement in between the private accommodation companies and NSFAS funded students," NSFAS mentioned in an announcement on Thursday.
